Moab Trip, May 2013

During Memorial Day week this year, Chris and I took a week-long trip to Moab. It was so fun to see all these old places I've been to years ago, and so fun to see new places as well. Chris and I stayed at a little (and somewhat creepy and old) motel called Red Rock Lodge. It was quaint, little, and old. We ate at some really good restaurants there (the Moab Brewery, The Blu Pig, Wake and Bake Cafe, etc), saw amazing structures at Arches National Park and Dead Horse Point, went to an art fair, went to Hole N The Rock and did their cave tour, and did some fun touristy shopping.

For anyone who doesn't like Utah, go to Moab and I think you can reconsider :)

Got some cool art at the art fair in Moab :)

On our first day in Moab, we ate at the Moab Brewery. The beer looks like there's a foot in it :)

I think on our third day in Moab, we ate here at the Wake and Bake Cafe. Chris got a crazy breakfast burrito, and I had a crepe.

Here is Delicate Arch. Unfortunately, we didn't hike up to the arch because we decided that we wanted to see other ones. We'll definitely hike up to it next time we go~

 Arches National Park

 North and South Window Arches

 Turret Arch

 Double Window Arch

Hole N The Rock. I've been here so many times in my life, but this time I finally did their little cave tour. Inside this huge rock structure, Albert and Gladys Christensen made their home inside. It was very impressive. Where the souvenir shop is now, used to a be a diner that was very popular for miners to come to. There's a lot more history here than I thought!

The door into the Hole N The Rock souvenir shop, hahaha.

Lunch at The Blue Pig. They had amazing BBQ!

Cute lil Native American owl :)

We hiked through the Devil's Garden to see Landscape Arch, Navajo Arch, Partition Arch, and Double-O Arch. The hike got very difficult after Landscape Arch, but so worth it.

There I am, running up a sand hill in Devils Garden with a dirty bum.

Here it is, the LANDSCAPE ARCH! It was so beautiful. I feel so lucky to have been able to see this, because one day when it crumbles, there will be people who didn't or won't get a chance to see this beautiful natural arch.

 Navajo Arch

Partition Arch...this was definitely one of my favorites. I mean, look at that view!!!

One of the scariest parts of the hike in Devils Garden. I thought I might fall off and die, haha. But again, it was so worth it to see this amazing view. I wish cameras could capture the actual beauty :)

We saw some petroglyphs while exploring Moab. We think this one is letting people know that there was good hunting areas near the river (since this petroglyph was written right next to the Colorado River). But, we aren't sure.

Chris and I had A LOT of leftover money that we had saved for this trip, so we decided to go fancy and get some sushi in Moab. I was very unsure about sushi in Moab, but I have to say I was very impressed with the food! It was really good, better than all the sushi places in Orem...haha.

I cannot believe I saw Colton Harton here in Moab (Marie..........). I had no idea, but he apparently is a tour guide for Japanese people, and happened to be in Moab while Chris and I were there, haha!

After a very hot, and long day of hiking, it was nice to walk around Moab in the rain :)

Enjoying the art at the Love Muffin Cafe over breakfast.

Dead Horse Point. So so so so amazing. It's so amazing what beautiful things nature can create. I do thank God for all the amazing things in nature that we get to see and partake of :)

Gelato from the Moab Brewery. Chris got an Orange Hazelnut flavored one, and I got a chocolate gelato made with one of their stouts at the brewery. Yum!
